At the OM book warehouse

On Tuesday we were treated to a pizza lunch by the literature team. It’s encouraging to hear that their 3 bookstores are selling very well. The books are reaching many people.

On Wednesday evening we attended the prayer meeting that meets right here on campus. The “old timers” remembered us. It was great to see them again. Heather played the piano for the hymns.

On Thursday we treated everyone to an ice cream social - it was warm enough that we thought it appropriate! Also got our laundry done, so we’re ready to pull out right after work tomorrow. We’ll miss the place!

There are many flags mounted around the book sorting area.

Operation Mobilization in Florence, SC

We arrived at our destination mid-afternoon and got “hooked-up”, ready to work the next day. Heather taught her Zoom class and later met with the Bible Memory Club.

On Monday we showed up at 8 a.m. to start to sort books. They weren’t quite ready for us, so we came back at 9. With an hour lunch break, we stopped work at 5. It’s a fun, but demanding, job. It was great to hear some updates on the ships (Logos Hope and Doulos Hope). The Logos Hope is in South Africa for dry dock maintenance; the Doulos Hope is in the far east.

A new bookstore has opened in Papua New Guinea – filled with books from the warehouse right here. A new order for 60,000 books has come in. Semis are often seen at the dock, picking up books. Multiple people around the world are impacted by the books leaving here. It’s wonderful to be part of God’s Kingdom work, using the printed page to spread His Good News!

Roger has had some work done on the R.V. While in town, we spoke to a store clerk about the warehouse. She didn't know about it, but was sure she'd be checking it out.

AR, TN, MS, AL, GA, SC

From Marsha we drove to Steve and Joye in TN. We met these friends in SC when they were involved with Operation Mobilization. She fixed porcupine meatballs for dinner – they were delicious. I also got a recipe for corn bread with corn in it. We slept well with rain keeping time on our roof. The weather cooled significantly - we put a blanket back on that we had just removed!!

Joye fixed another delicious meal – breakfast – and we were on our way.

It was a long day – about 500 miles – we parked behind an Aldi store in Aiken, SC, and attended Millbrook Baptist Church the next morning. It was a fairly full by the time the service started. ed.

A challenging message was issued – “What Gets You?” Several made decisions to accept Christ.

This put us the home stretch to Florence, SC where we’ll spend a week. The trees along the road were interesting - lots of greens - many shades, deciduous and evergreen. For the most part, the roads were in good shape and we only had one construction issue. The construction has caused us a lot of grief this year - we keep getting lost in the cities!!

Arkansas

Our friend, Marsha Porcelli, lives on an acreage out of town. Her driveway slopes up from the highway, causing the R.V. to drag a little!

We had 2 quiet days with her and her doggie, Rosie. She has 4 chickens and sent us on our way with free range chicken eggs. Heather taught the Thursday Zoom Good News Club from her dining room.

We watched carefully for snakes. She takes her flashlight and checks the chicken coop before she tucks the chickens in for the night. Once she found 2 in there! We were impressed that she is so brave and even kills them with a rake. I guess usually they are not the poisonous kind.

Roger was able to fix some electrical issues she was having in her family room.

It was good to see her again after many years.
