Driving along the other day, we heard a timer. It came from a thermometer mounted on the front console behind the steering wheel. We have no idea why it would chime – mostly over bumps – sometimes 2 times or sometimes 4+ times!
While that was happening, we heard the sound of a dud bell. Not
too much later there were bells that sounded like the reindeers’! When we
stopped, we found the kitchen metal drain plug on the floor – the dud bell
sound. Heather’s sister-in-law gave us a game that has bells in it, and it had
gotten bumped in such a way to chime – so now we knew where the chimes were
coming from!
On Thursday we drove over the eastern continental divide –
2610 feet. We also drove through "The Sideling Hill Road Cut on I-68 and US 40 is a 340-foot-deep (100 m) notch excavated from the ridge of Sideling Hill, about five miles (8.0 km) west of Hancock in Washington County, Maryland." The weather was great at
that time, so we enjoyed climbing the stairs. Beautiful area. Enjoy the pics.
Speaking of weather, we have never driven through such variety – going around a corner can change from torrential rain to sunshine and dry roads! Then, around the next corner, rain again!!
