Roger was able to reconnect with Tom, a man he worked with
22 years ago in IL at the College of DuPage. Tom has since become a Christian
and reached out to Roger to let him know. He lives in IN on ~10 acre organic farm and
welcomed us with a home-grown, organic chicken meal!
From there we found we had some time, as several connections
we hoped to make didn’t pan out. So we visited the Old Stone Church in Lemont,
IL (it was closed) and then spent several hours at the Naper Settlement. We
both learned some things! It was a beautiful day for wandering around the “old
time” village and enjoying nature.
We then drove into Oak Park (where our first apartment was in 1972) and met with 3 former Chicago neighbors. Portillo's was the restaurant of choice for Italian beef, which they recommended!
Driving north into Chicagoland, we stopped at a former West Chicago neighbor’s house to say “hi”. Joe had some good memories of the kids (ours were the only ones on a short isolated block).

Prayer meeting found us at our old church – West Chicago
Bible. They had an evening meal, so once again we benefited doubly! They are
encouraged that the church is growing.
Gas is supposed to cost more in IL (we found it at
$2.78-$3.05), but we’ve heard it’s going up everywhere in our land. However,
milk was only $1.19/gallon!
